This is really huge for me. I had really expected a very long (many years) of work programming before I could expect a game portal to publish one of my products.
Obviously my 15 years of game development experience in areas *other* than coding have contributed strongly to this goal being reached so quickly.
I have been working diligently on an update to this game and it is almost ready..
I have planned to take the core game mode and move it to a game mode I've named "Zen" mode. The reason for this is that it does not get increasingly more difficult. The casual gamer can enjoy a fairly easy game and expect to make it fairly deep into the levels and have a nice long healthy game session.
Then I am adding two new game modes:
Classic: This refers to the more classic Match-3 Game style where as you go deeper in levels your game gets more difficult by adding additional gem types every few levels.
Timed: This mode never increases in difficulty however you only have 60 seconds to play. Each time you hit the hint button you subtract 1 second from your available play time. But as a bonus each time you pull down a huge combination you can add from 3-5 seconds depending on how large the combo is.
These game modes are actually already done at this time.
The only feature left for this update is the splitting of the highscore functions into 3 separate branches for each game mode.
Otherwise of course I will need to test it thoroughly.
But I have a one big problem .. by the time I get that last feature ironed out and the testing done -- its likely to be PAST the holidays!?!
So I'm considering keeping this update and calling it Holiday Cheer 2 for next year. There are so many new features it really is a big update - and worthy of calling a version 2.0 in my mind
The timing was so tight when I decided to code this project that I barely got it to them in time to publish.
So word to the wise: If you want to publish a game for a specific seasonal or holiday event get it finished a couple of months BEFORE the event.
